My journey with ami2u has been an enjoyable and rewarding one, and I have very much enjoyed planning, creating and seeing you receive your boxes every month. However, I have taken the difficult decision to close down ami2u for the present.
There have been several changes in my personal life, including an upcoming house move as well as my partner changing jobs and becoming self-employed. I want to be able to support him in his new venture. I also would like to have more time to craft for pleasure, which I very much miss. I may resurrect the business in the future, but the time is not right for me to continue at the moment.
I would like to thank all my subscribers for their support, custom and engagement on social media. I’ve absolutely loved seeing your reactions to the boxes and picture of your versions of the projects. Please do keep posting these online and in the Facebook group, which I will keep active.
I’d also like to thank the very talented designer, Alison Holloway of PetalsCraftsandMe for her wonderfully creative responses to my design briefs. Alison is expanding her design work and I wish her every success. The fantastic Three Bears Yarn also deserve thanks and recognition for promoting British business with their high-quality yarns, spun and dyed in Blackburn. Their support for ami2u as a small British business has been very helpful.
The July box will be the last one, and subscriptions through PayPal will be cancelled.
Thanks again and happy crafting!
Jess @ ami2u
I've been incredibly impressed with the creativity and flair demonstrated by ami2u subscribers in customising the projects to suit them. It's OK to vary, adapt and adjust projects to suit your preferences and tastes - or just because you want to be a bit different from the crowd. Here's some examples of what our subscribers have done to inspire you to customise your ami.
In our research you told us about the things you sometimes dislike about amigurumi, which mean you often don't get the results you want to achieve. In this post we give you advice to help your work be the best it can be, so you can stop any frustrations and enjoy your ami!
It's a good question. Why did I start ami2u?
I attended a presentation recently that featured this diagram, and it really hit home to me.
I love a good competition - who doesn't? I'd like to offer people the chance to win a FREE subscription club box. The competition will run until just before subscriptions open on 1st November, as the lucky winner won't need to subscribe - they'll win the December box for free!
Entry is free and easy by clicking the link on our competition webpage.
Look out for more competitions in the future too.
Today I am launching the website on social media and I'm excited (and a little nervous...) to see how ami2u will be received. It's a new take on an established idea, and I've tried to make it a product that I would enjoy myself as a customer. Time will tell how you all like it - please leave me a comment to give your feedback.
The next month will focus on promoting the first club box which will be posted on 12th December. That gives me a little over a month to finalise designs, source supplies and prepare your wonderful boxes of amigurumi goodness - it might seem a long time but I bet it will go very quickly!
So I've decided to take the plunge and set up my own business, sharing my love of amigurumi with fellow crochet lovers up and down the land. My word, there is a lot to think about! Logo, website, email account, social media, designers, suppliers, packaging, payment systems, budget - the list doesn't stop there!
So far so good. I'm extremely pleased to have found an excellent published designer to work with me on this project. I've also been networking to find suppliers for the lovely extras you will find in your ami2u club boxes during my recent trip to Yarndale. Hopefully I will have my own stall next year...
I can reveal that subscriptions will open on 1st November 2017 and the posting date for the first ami2u subscription club box will be Monday 12th December 2017. I'm terribly excited, and hope you are too!
