It's a good question. Why did I start ami2u?
I attended a presentation recently that featured this diagram, and it really hit home to me.
You love it.
Yes, I love it - I love crochet, it's given me so much. I've made great friends, learned new skills and have had so many wonderful experiences from crochet. I also love amigurumi - it's a quick and fun form of crochet that appeals to so many.
You are great at it.
I'd say I'm pretty good at crochet, possibly even great. What I am definitely great at is applying my business skills to crochet. I have a first class honours degree in Business Management - what better that to link my business skills with my love of crochet, and bring you something fantastic?
You are paid for it.
Well, not yet - ami2u has only just started after all! I'm not doing this for the money. I started ami2u to create something that I would love as a customer. If I earn a little from it then wonderful, but bringing an amazing product to fellow crochet lovers means so much more to me.
The world needs it.
Of course the world needs crochet, doesn't it? OK, maybe this isn't as meaningful as some really worthwhile charitable ventures. But I do think the world needs fun, and that individuals need to reward themselves. My crochet-loving friends have many reasons to treat themselves - looking after disabled children, caring for partners going through cancer, embarking on new careers. If I can bring some light into their day once a month, that will bring a smile to my face - and theirs hopefully. Hence the name - ami (amigurumi) 2 (to) u (you) - I want to bring you all cute and fun amigurumi projects and lovely gifts because you deserve it.
Overall, ami2u gives me purpose.
ami2u is definitely my passion, vocation, profession and mission. I want every person that opens an ami2u box to have the biggest smile on their face, every single month. Someone once said to me that they love a subscription box as it's like having a birthday every month. Well Happy Birthday everyone!
